Search & Recovery Certification
Search & recovery is one of the most useful advanced certifications you can have. Regardless if something was lost from a boat, another diver, land or even air, this course gives you the skills to locate & recover what was lost.
Who this class is for:
- The certified diver looking for more information to maximize the use of search and recovery for scuba diving.
- The certified diver who works in or around docks, slips or marinas.

- Signals for search diving
- Salvage techniques
- Depth considerations
- Lift bag usage
- Lifting drums
- Necessary qualities of lifting devices
- Knots and rigging
- Fill techniques
- Mud/silt suction considerations
- Salvage and recovery of an object with a water weight of between 11 and 33 kg/25 and 75 lbs
- Simulate scuba emergency using a minimum of 2 searching techniques
Requirements:
Search & recovery certification prerequisites:
- 15 years or older (Under 18 requires parental consent)
- Open water diving certification
- Approved diver medical form
- Liability waiver
Gear requirements:
- Standard scuba gear (Regulators, BCD, Weights, Tanks)
- Finger spool or reel
- Appropriate size lift bag (optional)
Class requirements:
- Satisfactorily complete the online learning course with a test score of 80% or higher.
- After instructor remediation, a test score of 100%
- Complete all open water requirements efficiently
- Demonstrate safe recovery practices
- Insure the certifying agency has your photo on their website (no hats or sunglasses)
Time requirements:
- 2-3 hours for online learning
- 3-4 hours of instructor led surface & in-water training

This class includes your online e-learning material, 4 in-water training sessions with a certified instructor, your certification card (C-Card) and the ability to find all the cool stuff the surface dwellers have lost.
