Over the past year, Amy Paur & Brian Mullins and the RSD team have dedicated their time, money, sweat, some blood and definitely tears to make their vision of what a dive shop should be, come to life. Forging your own path in business comes with great rewards and we are so proud to see how we’ve grown the scuba community, created a feeling of family and brought education to the market.
Raleigh Scuba Diving has been a labor of love where we’ve overcome a LOT of roadblocks along the way. We’ve managed to learn from each one and come away stronger. Starting a small business is not for the faint of heart and we are proud to have recently celebrated our one year anniversary. This past year has had so many amazing moments; we want to thank every single one of you for your support and the role you’ve played. One of the advantages of being a small company is the ability to be agile and take advantage of opportunities when they are presented to us. Earlier this year, we had an incredible opportunity to bring our vision of scuba diving (inclusivity, kindness, safety, fun) to a much larger audience in a way that would take us years to accomplish on our own. Please read our official announcements below:
ANNOUNCEMENT #1:
Raleigh Scuba Diving, LLC (RSD) is proud to announce their merger with Water World’s (WW) scuba department. Water World has been in business since the Mid 1970’s and while they are known primarily as a boat/marine store, they started their business as a dive shop and still maintain a beautiful dive store to this day. Additional details will be released but, moving forward, all gear sales and classes for RSD will run through Water World in Durham. The RSD & WW instructor & business staff is merging to take the best of both worlds and run an amazing, full service dive shop. Amy, Brian, the RSD & WW staff will all remain in place but Raleigh Scuba Diving will assume running the day to day operations. We will maintain our remote location in Apex, NC for gear rental pickup/dropoff for convenience but all gear sales will take place at the Water World location in Durham, NC.
ANNOUNCEMENT #2:
Amy Paur is the new manager for the Water World scuba shop, effective 11/26/24. Amy is both an SDI/PADI instructor holding the rating of Master Instructor with PADI, Instructor Trainer with DAN and numerous teaching credentials through SDI/TDI. Amy is THRILLED at this opportunity and looking forward to creating a very bright future for the business. Water World is one of the oldest PADI 5-Star IDC Centers in North Carolina (formed in 1978). Amy is focused on continuing her safety-centric view while delivering the best education possible while keeping it fun.
Next Steps:
Merging businesses can be cause for uncertainty. Both Raleigh Scuba Diving and Water World are highly invested in the revamping of the new business together. We will announce more details as they become available but some things to expect are:
– A rebranded name which embodies the 2 businesses merging into one.
– A top down approach to evaluate and adjust shop, service, teaching and rental policies as needed.
– Asking the community about what they want an doing our best to deliver (trips, training, education, charters, gear, social events).
– A dive shop dedicated to serving the needs of the community.
– An updated website, phone # and domain (don’t worry, we will post everything here and redirect the page so you can always find us)
