Open Water Scuba Certification

Open Water Scuba Certification

Home Scuba Lessons Open Water Scuba Course

Welcome to the first step in exploring the world under water!

The Open Water Scuba Certification is where you gain the knowledge and skills to dive with our instructors! This certification level is recognized world wide and allows you to rent or buy scuba gear, dive with boat charter operators and explore an amazing world that only a small percentage of people know.  There is a lot of information below (we are thorough) but if you have any questions at all please contact us.

What to expect in this course:

Earning your open water certification is easy but there are multiple steps to go through. Once you have finished your e-learning, you’ll start off in a shallow pool (shallow enough to stand) to start learning your in-water, and underwater skills. Your instructor methodically explains and demonstrates each skill before having you repeat it. The pool/confined water sessions are where you learn the majority of your skills which enable you to be a safe diver. Once you’ve finished your pool sessions, we’ll head out to our local quarry for your open water certification dives. Here you’ll get a review of how to do a skill before repeating it. The goal is to show the instructor you have mastery of the needed skills.

Once you demonstrate the skills for that dive, the instructor will guide you for actual dive time. We insist each instructor spends time diving with students, not just sitting on a platform doing skills.
